26,193 Pry schools nationalized: PM for improving education

Jan 9: Citing on different programmes taken by her government for development of the country’s education sector, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said they are giving highest priority on education.

“Her government gave highest allocation in the sector. Universal Education Policy was enacted during the tenure of her government and implement of policy already started, she added.
The premier also made commitment to work for the development of the sector during her rest lifespan.
The prime minister came up with the assertion while addressing at a grand rally of teachers at National Parade Square in the city.
She also declared nationalization of 26,193 non-government primary schools of the country.
Under the nationalization, a total of 1, 03,845 teachers will get the government facilities in three phases. In first phase, jobs of 91,024 teachers of 22,981 schools will be nationalized from January 1 this year.
In the second phase, the jobs of 9,025 teachers of 2,252 registered permanently or temporarily, permitted for teaching and community or NGO-run schools will be nationalized from July 1 this year.
In third phase, 3,796 teachers of 960 schools that were recommended for teaching permission or waiting to get permission will be nationalized from July 1 in 2014.
The government will have to spend an additional Tk 100 crore in the current fiscal while Tk 371 crore will be needed in the next fiscal year and extra Tk 651 crore has to be spent in 2014-15 fiscal year.
