34 held 5000 sued over Ctg AL-Hefajat clash

Police on Friday detained 34 people including Bhujpur Jamaat leader Shafiul Alam for their alleged involvement in the Thursday’s clash which killed at least three persons.Earlier in the day, Sub-Inspector Nurunnabi filed the case with Bhujpur Thana accusing 5000 people.
Fatikchhari Upazila Nirbahi Officer Anjana Khan told banglanews that no clash was reported on Friday and death toll didn’t rise.
Section 144 was imposed in the area while law enforcers are patrolling in alert mood.
Besides, 38 others are admitted into Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
On Thursday afternoon, at least three people were killed and others 150 injured in a clash between activists of Awami League and Hefajat-e-Islam in Kazirhat area under Bhujpur Thana of Fatikchharai upazila of the district.
Sources said local Awami League activists brought out a procession protesting hartal and staged a rally in Kazirhat area.
At one stage of rally, activists of Hefajat-e-Islam announced using mike of mosque that Awami League men would attack mosque and madrasa.
After the announcement, villagers along with Hafajat’s activists attacked Awami league activists and locked into fierce clash, leaving one dead on the spot and 150 people injured from both sides.
