3G teletalk mobile network in Rajshahi in the offing

Third-Generation (3G) mobile telecommunications technology of the
state owned mobile operator-Teletalk- is going to be launched in
Rajshahi metropolis very soon.
All necessary preparations are progressing fast to launch the
services. A tower has already been set up in BTCL premises besides
other necessary instruments to this end.
Nahidur Rahman, Divisional Engineer of MM Corporation, said initiative
has been taken to launch 3G network in the country’s divisional
headquarters by this month of July. But, the initiative has been
delayed for sometime due to complexities relating to giving license to
the private operators.
He said the work on setting up of tower and fiber optical cable were
completed and some other necessary works remained unfinished.
Khorshed Alam, Assistant Manager (System Operation) of Teletalk, said
a 2.5 G network is now operating in the city.
Necessary instruments were set up for launching 3G. Old instruments
were sent to other divisions. “We can introduce the modern network on
getting final decision of the government,” he added.
He expected that people of the metropolis will get the services of 3G
network within next two to three months. Khorshed Alam said separate
3G SIM cards would be issued to subscribers for the service.
He added that the third generation mobile technology will make mobile
telephony much more efficient, with high-speed data transfer affording
users to watch mobile TV, make video calls, use navigation equipment
