Badda AL leader murder suspects killed in Dhaka ‘gunfight’

Dhaka, July 5 – Two suspects in a Badda Awami League leader Farhad Hossain murder case was killed in a reported gunfight with detectives in Dhaka’s Uttar Badda area early Thursday. The deceased were identified as Nurul Islam alias Killer Sunny, 30, and Amit alias Dada, 35.
Tipped off, a team of Detective Branch of police conducted a drive at an under-construction building on Satarkul-Beraid road in Projapoti Garden area around 2 am, said Mashiur Rahman, deputy commissioner (north) of DB.
Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire to police, prompting them to retaliate that triggered a gunfight.
Later, police recovered the bodies along with two firearms and bullets from the spot, he added.
Police suspected that the deceased physically took part in the Farhad Hossain killing mission.
Earlier on June 15, Farhad Hossain, 52, general secretary of Badda union Awami League, was shot to death by unknown assailants in the city’s Uttar Badda area while coming out of Baitus Salam-Jam-e- Mosque after offering Juma prayers.
Later, criminals opened fire on police at Gudaraghat check-post on Badda-Gulshan Link Road while passing the area by a CNG-run auto-rickshaw

AL leader found slaughtered in Mymensingh
Meanwhile, a local Awami League leader was found slaughtered at Khaghati village in Trishal Upazila of Mymensingh on Wednesday.
Police recovered the throat-slit body of Abdul Matin alias Matin Master, 69, president of Mathbari union unit Awami League and a freedom fighter, in the morning.
Quoting locals, Jakiur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Trishal Police Station, said Abdul Matin went out of his house on Tuesday night to see his fish enclosure but did not return.
Family members found his throat-slit body on the bank of a pond around 10 am and informed the police.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for an autopsy.
