Bangabandhu’s vision on people’s ownership violated: Dr Kamal

Dhaka, Aug 26 – Jatiya Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Monday accused the government of violating Bangabandhu’s vision, which has been written on the constitution, by depriving people of their ownership of the country.“What is happening in the country which the Father of the Nation had left for us is completely contrary to his directives. Bangabandhu had made people owner of the country through the constitution but those who are now running the country are violating the constitution signed by him,” he said.
Dr Kamal, also president of Gonoforum, came up with the remarks while speaking at a discussion programme arranged by Krishak Sramik Janata League (KSJL) at the Jatiya Press Club, marking the 44th martyrdom anniversary of Father of the National Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
He said Bangabandhu had a dream that people would be the owner of the state but now police are harassing people at the behest of the ruling party. “Had people been owner of the state, the law and order situation wouldn’t have deteriorated so badly and wouldn’t have subjected to repressions and killings,” he added.
The Jatiya Oikyafront convener alleged that the ruling party is not working to materialise Bangabandhu’s dream. “Had the dream of Bangabandhu been materialised, the people of the country would have been the owner of the country.”
He also said the ruling party leaders say that they respect Bangabandhu but their activities do not match their assertion. ”It’s a false campaign of the ruling party leaders as the incidents of killing, rape, repression and abuse by police can’t remain in the country if it’s run following the ideals of Bangabandhu.”
Bangabandhu has been disgraced the way police are abusing the power, Dr Kamal said. “We can’t allow anyone to dishonour Bangabandhu.”
He called upon people to get united to save the country from the misrule and make ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamed by the Bangabandhu.
Speaking at the programme Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD-Rab) President ASM Abdur Rab called upon people to get united to restore their rights ousting the current government. “We had waged the Liberation War in 1971 to liberate the country. Let’s unite again to remove the current fascist, autocratic and blunderer government.”
He also urged the political parties to get united under a single platform. “If the political parties follow the ‘go-alone policy’, it’ll only help the current government stay in power for a long time.”
Rab also called upon the government to give people back their ownership of the country. “Or else, you (govt) have to pay dire consequences,” he said. – UNB
