Bhutanese King, Queen arrive

The fifth Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuk and Queen Jetsun Pema arrived Thursday on a six-day visit to Bangladesh.

A flight carrying them landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 12:30 pm.  Foreign Minister Dr Dipu Moni welcomed the monarch of the Himalayan country and his entourage.

According to the schedule of the private tour, the King and Queen will pay courtesy call on Dipu Moni in city’s Sonargaon Hotel where they will stay during the tour in afternoon.

They are scheduled to visit to the Dharmaraji Buddhist monastery in Kamalapur on Friday morning.

Later, the royal couple will join a meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in evening and will have a dinner at Gano Bhaban, the official residence of Prime Minister.

The Bhutanese King-Queen will be on a river cruise on Saturday while will pay visit to Beximco Industrial park, Shinepukur Ceramic Industry, DEPZ area, Young one Garment Factory and Incepta Pharmaceuticals in Savar on Sunday.

On Monday, the couple will pay a call to President Zillur Rahman at Bangabhaban.

They are likely to leave Dhaka on Tuesday morning.
