All branches of Bangladesh Bank (BB) will also remain open partially on Saturday next in public interest and in terms of favouring commercial banks.Abul Kalam Azad, deputy-general manager of BB governor secretariat, confirmed it to banglanews on Friday noon.
Some departments including cash unit, clearing house, deposit unit and payment unit of the central bank will remain open on the day, he added.
Earlier on Thursday, Bangladesh Bank (BB) has asked the authorities concerned of the commercials banks of the country to keep some of their branches on Saturday.
The direction came from a notification of the central bank after BGMEA request in this regard.
The announcement said, “Some branches of the commercial banks of some areas will remain open for providing salary to garment workers.”
The areas are Dhaka city, Savar, Ashulia, Gazipur, Narayanganj and Chittagong. Besides, the branches in the areas of airport, seaport, river port and land port will remain open as usual, it added.
