Countrywide clashes following verdict claim 50+ lives

At least 50 people including cops were killed and over 100 injured in clashes erupted in eleven districts immediately after Jamaat leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee had been sentenced to death on Thursday.Banglanews district correspondents report: Two people were killed in Sirajganj, six in Rangpur, one in Natore, two in Noakhali, two in Dinajpur, one in Dhaka, two in Moulvibazar, two in Cox’s Bazar, five killed in Gaibandha, three in Satkhira and five people were killed in Thakurgaon district in Jamaat-BNP clashes with cops.
Besides, law enforcers also held 167 Jamaat-BNP activists from different areas of the country for their alleged involvement in clashes.
Dhaka: Jamaat-Shibir men cut vein of a youth in Keraniganj of the district in the afternoon.
Sirajganj: Two people were killed and 20 others sustained bullet injuries in an hour-long clash between law enforcers and Jamaat-Shibir activists in Chandidasgati area of the district in the morning.
Rangpur: At least six people were killed and 30 others injured in a clash between law enforcers and Jamaat-Shibir activists in the district in the afternoon.
Natore: Jamaat-Shibir men slaughtered an activist of ruling Awami League and attacked seven cops as post-verdict violence.
Noakhali: At least two people were killed and 20 others including cops injured in Jamaat-Shibir-cop clashes in Dotterhat and Rajganj of Noakhali district.
Dinajpur: At least two people were killed and 10 others injured, including two police men, in separate clashes between police and Jamaat-Shibir activists at Dosmail and Chirirbandar upazila of the district on Thursday.
Moulvibazar: At least two Jamaat-Shibir activists were killed and 10 others including police injured in a clash in Kathaltoli Bazar under Borolekha upazila of the district in the afternoon.
Cox’s Bazar: Two persons was killed and few others injured in a clash between Jamaat-Shibir and cops in Cox’s Bazar in the afternoon.
Thakurgaon: At least five people, including Jamaat-Shibir men, were killed as cops and BGB personnel opened fire to disperse the activists of the party in the afternoon.
Satkhira: Three Shibir men were killed and 20 others including cops injured in a Shibir-cop clash in the district town in the afternoon.
Gaibandha: At least five people including two cops were killed and five others injured in a clash between Jamaat-cops in Sundarganj of the district in the afternoon.
Jamaat-Shibir men went into berserk soon after International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 led by ATM Fazle Kabir sentenced Jamaat leader Delwar Hossain Sayedee to death for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.
