Deutsche Welle’s 1st Bangla prog from Apr 13

Germany’s international broadcaster, Deutsche Welle (DW) is going to launch first ever Bangla programme from April 13. Title of this programme, based on science, technology, environment and lifestyle, is “Onneshon.”This was announced at a press conference held at a city hotel on Wednesday.
German Ambassador in Bangladesh, Dr Albrecht Conze, Distribution Executive of South Asia of DW Tobias Grote-Beverborg, Head of Bangla Department of DWDebarati Guha and Chairman of Ekushey Television Abdus Salam, spoke at the press conference.
Debarati Guha is her speech said that she would moderate the programme. It will telecast on Ekushey Television on Saturdays at 6:30pm and on Sundays at 1:30am and 3:30pm. Multimedia content of this programme will be available at www.dw.de/bengali.
The service of DW is aimed at the overseas market. It broadcasts news and information on short-wave, Internet and satellite radio in 30 languages (DW Radio). It has a satellite television service (DW TV), which is available in four languages, and there is also an online news site.
DW has broadcast regularly since 1953. Until 2003 it was based in Cologne; then it relocated to a new building, the ‘Schürmann-Bau,’ in Bonn’s former government office area.
The television broadcasts are produced in Berlin. Deutsche Welle’s website is produced in both Berlin and Bonn. On 6 February 2012, DW underwent a significant re-branding.
