Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Rakib Uddin Ahmed on Thursday said political parties would take the decision over the method under which the tenth general election will be held.
“The election commission is ready for holding election under any systems within the stipulated time,” he said.
The chief election commissioner came up with the assertion while talking to journalists in a press conference at his office in the city.
He said, “The election is the foundation of democracy which keeps active the democratic system.”
Kazi Rakib added: “To give it organizational structure it is necessary for a free, fair and meaningful election. The updated voter lists have done for this purpose.”
New voters will get their identity card soon, he added.
Kazi Rakib also said, “The voter list with photograph is national property. Any one can be listed though voter updated activities is over but it is impossible after election schedule declaration.”
There is no update about constituency demarcation. DCC election would be held after decision of the court, he added.banglanews24.com
