Ex-BNP minister Majid Ul Haque dies

Dhaka – Major General (Retd) Majid Ul Haque, a former BNP minister, died of lung infection at the city’s Appollo Hospital early Monday, hospital sources said. He was 87.Majid Ul Haque served as minister for industries and railways and communications in the cabinet of the late President Ziaur Rahman.
He was in the 1991-96 cabinet of the then Prime Minister Khaleda Zia first as water resources minister and then as agriculture minister.
Born in 1926 in Magura, he was also a member of the BNP’s standing committee until he resigned in 1998.
