In a media statement, the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry said the opposition chief’s article in Washington Times was uncalled for.
It said such a statement from the former Prime Minister was completely unexpected at a time when the government, industrialists and workers were toiling to retain GSP facility which lets Bangladeshi apparel and other products duty-free access to the US market.
It observed that the statement will have negative impacts on the Bangladeshi sectors enjoying the GSP facility and other promising industries, ultimately hampering development.
They suggested finding a solution through talks for reaching a consensus for a way-out to political standoff.
The apex business body also urged Khaleda for retracting the statement for the sake of the country and its development. bdnews24.com
