Dhaka, March 25 – A Dhaka court yesterday awarded death to five persons including a woman in a case lodged over the murder of her boyfriend Sohel in Dhaka’s Dhamrai area in 2011. The death-row-convicts are Shilpi Akter, Ismail, Abdul Majid, Nur Alam and Sumon.
Dhaka’s Second Additional Sessions Judge Ismat Jahan pronounced the judgement on Wednesday, prosecutor Shakila Jasmin Mitu told newsmen.
According to the case documents, Shilpi’s husband used to live in Saudi Arabia and she got involved in an illicit relation with Sohel. The other convicts too used to have affairs with her. On September 18, 2011, Shilpi called Sohel and brought him to her home, where she along with the others, killed him.
Sohel’s brother Rakibul Islam later filed the case and police after their investigation, filed the charge-sheet of the case against the five accused.
After recording the depositions of 15 out of the total 17 witnesses, the court on Wednesday came up with the verdict.
