Gas supply to remain suspended in some parts of capital

Dhaka, Feb 18 – Gas supply in most parts of the capital will remain suspended for 12 hours starting from Tuesday evening due to the relocation of the gas pipelines as part of the construction work of metro rail project.
Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company limited yesterday said the gas supply will remain disrupted from 6:00pm Tuesday until 6:00am Wednesday as the authorities concerned will shift gas pipelines to facilitate the construction work of the metro rail project.
The areas which will be affected due to the shifting of pipelines are Mirpur, Shyamoli, Agargaon, Mohammadpur, Dhanmondi, Kalabagan, Hazaribagh, Dhaka University, BUET, Shahbagh, Green Road, all areas of Old Dhaka, Minto Road, Bangabhaban, Gono Bhaban, Jatiya Sangsad and its adjacent areas, Nandipara, Gopibagh, Swamibagh, Rampura, Banasree, Motijheel, Kamalapur and its surrounding areas.
The gas supply may be disrupted or low pressure may hit these areas. The gas valves will be replaced at Dhanmondi, Moghbazar and Dhaka University area while the repair work for leakage at Khilgaon area will also take place during the time.
Titas authority regrets for the temporary inconvenience for the disruption of gas supply.
On Saturday, gas supply to tens of thousands of households, factories and other establishments in the capital and its adjoining areas came to a complete or partial halt because of a technical glitch at Ashulia gas station. – Staff Reporter
