Opposition BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia has decided not to meet visiting Indian President Pranab Mukherjee as she doesn’t want to take risk of movement during hartal called by Jamaat.A source in the party said, Khaleda has to use car to meet Pranab at Hotel Pan Pacific Sonargaon which will violate the hartal. So she decided not to meet visiting Indian President.
Party’s vice chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury confirmed cancellation of the meeting. He however didn’t mention the reason behind it. He said, the Indian High has been informed of the decision.
Indian President Shri Pranab Mukherjee arrived here on Sunday afternoon on a three-day visit as the President of India to Bangladesh at the invitation of the Bangladesh government. This is his first visit abroad after assuming the office of President. Pranab is expected to visit his in-laws house in Magura.
