The countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by BNP-led 18-party alliance, was observed Tuesday amid stray incidents.The alliance observed the shutdown in protest against foiling their rally, arrest of opposition leaders and activists and demanding restoration of caretaker government.
At least 64 hartal supporters were held from different part of the country and 51 others were injured in stray incidents during hours of nationwide hartal.
Picketers also vandalised some 61 vehicles in Pabna, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Rangpur, Bhola, Munshiganj and Satkhira districts.
Police on Monday arrested over 200 opposition leaders, including BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, during a two and a half hours’ raid at the party’s central office after party men attacked cops, hurled cocktails and brick chips. banglanews24.com
