HC returns Shamim Osman’s bail plea

The High Court on Monday returned the bail prayer of former lawmaker Shamim Osman in a case of killing Twaki whose body was recovered from a canal in the district on March 8.

An HC bench comprising Justice Gobinda Chandra Thakur and Justice Badruzzaman returned the bail plea.

Earlier in the day, Shamim Osman along with five persons, including his son Ayon Osman, appeared at the court and sought anticipatory bail.

Deputy Attorney General AKM Johirul Haque moved for the state while Abdul Based Majumder for the defendants in the case.

On March 20, aDhakacourt placed Rifat, the prime suspect of Twaki killing case, on a seven-day remand for police interrogation.

Police, on the same day, showed arrest Rifat who was held after four days of the incident for his alleged involvement in killing of Twaki.

Earlier, Twaki’s father Rafiur Rabbi submitted written allegation to police super that Rifat was involved in the killing.

Investigation Officer and Officer-in-Charge of Narayanganj ModelThanaSM Manjur Quader told banglanews, “Rifat, 22, son of Osman Gani, was arrested from Kalirbazar area of the district town early Wednesday.”

He was produced before the court with a 10-day remand plea for police interrogation, he added.

Tanvir Mohammad Twaki, 17, son of Vice President of Narayanganj Nagorik Committee Rafiur Rabbi, went missing on Wednesday. Later, his body was found from a canal in the district on March 8.

On March 9, Narayanganj Nagorik Committee Vice-President Rafiur Rabbi blamed administration, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and police personnel over the death of his son. But the court verbally asked to submit petition in lower court. banglanews24.com
