I wasn’t in Padma Bridge graft: Mosharraf

DHAKA: Former Bridges Division Secretary Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan threatened to nip off the case filed against him.“I wasn’t involved in Padma Bridge graft. All works were done getting approval from minister and World Bank,” he said.
The former secretary came up with the assertion before the court in his bail hearing of the case on Thursday.
He said, “I will conduct my case and I will nip off the case as I have had all evidences to show the court anytime,” he said.
Mosharraf Hossain Bhuiyan and Bridges Division Engineer Kazi Ferdous were sent to jail after a seven-day remand.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) produced them before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate court on Thursday afternoon.
Magistrate of the court SA Salam sent them to jail rejecting their bail plea.
On December 26, Mosharraf Hossain and Superintendent Engineer of Bangladesh Bridge Authority Kazi Mohammad Ferdous were arrested for their alleged involvement in much-talked-about Padma Bridge graft.
On December 17, ACC sued seven people for their alleged involvement in Padma Bridge scam.
The accused are former Bridge Department secretary Mosharraf Hossian Bhuiyan, engineer Kazi M Ferdous, engineer Riaz Ahmed Jaber, Bangladesh representative of SNC-Lavalin Golam Mostafa, SNC-Lavalin officer Ramesh Saha, Kelvin Wales and M Ismail.
