ICT judges should quit: Moudud

Opposition BNP standing committee member Barrister Moudud Ahmed on Monday categorically said judges of International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) should resign as new generation even Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed ‘no confidence’ in ICT.

The senior leader of the party came up with the observation while addressing a roundtable meeting organized by Nagorik Forum at the National Press Club.

Barrister Moudud said, “The judges of ICT could no more discharge their duties independently in such situation prevailing in the country and their every verdict will be controversial.”

He added: “Awami League government should be liable for people’s ‘no confidence’ in ICT.”

Regarding the Shahbagh demo, BNP vice chairman Selima Rahman said, “I respect the emotion of youths, but I don’t support the uncivilized activities in the name of movement.”

The roundtable meeting was addressed, among others, by JAGPA President Shafiul Alam Prodhan, Nagairk Forum President Abdullahil Masud and BNP Moazzem Hossain Alal.banglanews24.com
