Kamaruzzaman seeks retrial

DHAKA: Jamaat leader Mohammad Kamaruzzaman detained for his alleged involvement in war crimes in liberation war in 1971 on Wednesday filed a petition seeking retrial of his case.The detained Jamaat-e-Islami assistant secretary general is now facing seven charges for his alleged crimes against humanity committed in the liberation war.
Tajul Islam, one of the Kamaruzzaman’s councils, submitted the retrial petition to the registrar of the war crimes tribunal.
After the submission, he told journalists: “This trial seems to be a biased one and so we submitted the petition for retrial.”
On December 11, Nizamul stepped down citing personal reasons for his resignation.
