BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Sunday attended the Bangla New Year celebrations of Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office.Khaleda joined the celebrations at about 6:15pm and enjoyed the cultural programmes for a while.
She also exchanged greetings with the leaders and activists during her stay there.
Khaleda Zia, however, did not deliver any speech as she had been there just to enjoy the programmes, according to BNP leaders.
BNP standing committee member Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, chairperson’s adviser Shamsuzzaman Dudu, organising secretary Fazlul Haque Milon, cultural secretary Gazi Majharul Anwar, Abul Khayer Bhuiyan MP, Jasas president MA Malek welcomed the BNP chairperson.
Huge BNP activists and supporters gathered in front of the party central office hearing that the BNP chief Khaleda Zia will attend the function.
Security around the party office had been beefed up to avert any untoward incident.
The Jasas programmes began at 8:30am.
BNP vice president Selima Rahman, Mahila Dal president Nur-e-Ara Safa, general secretary Shirin Sultana, vice president Rabeya Chowdhury, city unit president Sultana Ahmed and general secretary Farida Yeasmin were also present. UNB
