Mahi says, he had to take his father’s resignation letter

Dhaka, Feb 24 – Bikalpa Dhara lawmaker Mahi B Chowdhury on Sunday told parliament that his father former president Dr Badruddoza Chowdhury was forced to resign from his post as he did not visit the Mazar of late President Ziaur Rahman.
He disclosed this while speaking on thanksgiving motion of the President’s address to the nation.
Mahi, joint secretary general of the Bikalpa Dhara, recalled as to how his father was undermined by the then BNP-Jamaat government and Tarique Rahman and he was pathetically assigned to receive resignation letter from his father.
Badruddoza Chowdhury, a former secretary general of the BNP, was appointed President of the country by the BNP-jamaat government in 2001 and was forced to resign in 2002 after taking a resolution by the party parliamentary party unanimously accusing him of hatching conspiracy against the government and the party.
Mahi mentioned misdeeds of the BNP-Jamaat government including the emergence of militancy, August 21 grenade attack on the opposition leader Sheikh Hasina and killings of political leaders including SAMS Kibira and Ahsanullah Master.
He said there are differences between the ruling Awami League and Bikalpadhara in political ideology but the party is united with pro-liberation forces in the question of the country’s independence and sovereignty.
The young lawmaker mentioned that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is not the wealth of ruling Awami League alone rather he said Bangabandhu is the property of all the 18 crore people of the country. – Staff Reporter
