Cox’s Bazar municipality mayor and councilors elected in January 2011 called half-day hartal for Sunday as they are yet to be administered oath.
They made the announcement of the hartal after a mass procession held in the Town area on Saturday.
Councilor of Ward No-5 Salamatullah Babul told banglanews that as part of the demonstration of demanding oath they decided to reinforce a dawn-to-dusk hartal in the district on Sunday.
However, for the sake of the businessman and the request of administration we called a half-day hartal as it is tourist town also, he added.
On 27 January of 2011, the election of the municipality was held and the elected mayor and councilors are yet to be administered oath in the long time.
