PM says, JS polls in next January

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the parliamentary elections will be held in January of the next year.He came up with the announcement while addressing a press conference at her office on Wednesday which was organized to brief her three-day Russia visit that began on January 14.
Addressing the programme, the primer also said, “Flawless polls were held in our tenure. No question was raised over those elections.”
Speaking the impartiality of the polls-procedure during her tenure, she said, “Our candidates were even defeated in many elections.”
During her speech, the PM placed angles of different elections including by-elections and Union Parishad polls held in her incumbent term.
Addressing the briefing, Hasina also said, “Government would begin the construction of the Padma Bridge with alternative funding if World Bank doesn’t decide on its funding by January.”
She said, “Nothing can be done here if the pros and cons of the World Bank-called-conspiracy in this bridge are analyzed.”
Prime Minister also said that the government would start the construction work of 1,000-megawatt nuclear power plant at Rooppur in Pabna by September.
She also said, “Russia is ready to render financial and technical help to us in this regard while we have to finish some procedure here in the meantime.”
Terming Russia good friend, the premier added, “I also requested Russia for duty free import.”
During her visit, Bangladesh and Russia signed three agreements and six Memorandum of understanding (MoUs) in different areas including on construction of nuclear power plants in Bangladesh.
Other sectors are agriculture, health, education, culture, law and justice, terrorism and military cooperation.
