Protesters to resist Thursday’s hartal

The protesters on Wednesday urged the people of the country to resist Thursday’s hartal called by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.

The announcement came from a rally held at Motijheel in the city organized by Shahbagh protesters demanding capital punishment to all war criminals.

Jamaat called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal for Thursday, assuming that an unjust punishment would be awarded to its leader Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

International Crimes Tribunal (ICT)-1 fixed Thursday to pronounce verdict in war crimes related case against Delawar Hossain Sayedee.

Besides, the Shahbagh outrage demanding the death penalty to all war criminals including Quader Mollah, entered 23rd day on Wednesday.

Tens of thousands gathered at a rally at Motijheel intersection Wednesday as part of mass movement. It seems as human sea as people from all sectors joined the grand rally.

The programme stared with recital of verses from Holy Scriptures like Holy Quran, Geeta, Bible and Tripitaka around 3:45pm.

People from different walks of life are inspiring the protesters to continue their movement till their demand is not met. Protesters also start a mass signature campaign to meet support from the countrymen.

Alamgir Khandaker, who came from Chittagong University to pay solidarity with the protesters, told banglanews, “I join with the protesters in every day as I feel it from my heart. I think every person should come forward and extend their support to the demonstrators.”

The wave of the movement has reached beyond the borders of Bangladesh. All leading media house of the world giving media coverage of the movement in widely.

On January 21, International Crimes Tribunal-2 awarded Abul Kalam Azad alias ‘Bachchu Razakar’ sentenced to death for his involvement in crimes against humanity during liberation war in 1971.

On February 5, it also sentenced to life in prison Jamaat leader Abdul Quader Mollah for his involvement in the same crimes.banglanews24.com
