REHAB fair from Jan 2 : Govt help sought for housing

Real Estate Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) demanded direct support of the government to enhance the housing sector for the wellbeing of the people through providing them with well-facilitated flats.

Leaders of the epic body of REHAB sought the government’s cooperation at a press conference which was organized at Hotel Ruposhi Bangla on Friday to disclose about its upcoming fair.

Addressing the programme, REHAB General Secretary Anisuzzaman Bhuiyan said a 5-day-long fair will begin from January 2, which will be open from 10:00 am and 8:00 pm during fair days, at capital’s Bangabandhu International Conference Centre.

He also said some 226 organizations have registered to take part in the fair.

“Unapproved organization will be barred from participating in the fair”, Anisuzzaman added.

The REHAB also placed a 4-point recommendation for the development of the housing sector.

The REHAB leaders urged the government to distribute khas land among them to develop the housing sector of the country.

They also demanded connection of Gas and Electricity to newly made buildings as REHAB can not distribute some 25 to 30 thousand flats among the customers because of having no gas and electricity connection.

Addressing the programme, Anisuzzaman Bhuiyan also said housing sector can not progress due to a series of crisis including lack of planning and coordination, non-cooperation of the government, high price of land, poor coordination of the service providing organizations and price hike of essentials.

He also demanded sufficient Bank loan for both the business organization and the customers to expand the sector.
