An alleged robber was killed in what Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) described as gun-battle in Maheshkhali upazila of Cox’s Bazar early Friday morning.
The deceased, 32-year-old Mohammad Kashem, son of Syed Ahmed from Nonachhari Kamachara area of the upazila, was accused in 25 cases of murder, robbery, abduction and attack on police, RAB-7 Staff Officer Assistant Superintendent Mofizul Islam told bdnews24.com.
A RAB-7-led group raided Kalubridge area on receiving information of robbery planning, RAB-7 Squadron Leader Nuruzzaman told bdnews24.com.
An encounter followed in which Kashem was wounded and rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead, he said.
“Two double-barrel guns, two single-barrel guns, 12 rounds of bullets and four sharp weapons were recovered from the scene.”
Kashem was said to have been injured in a ‘gunbattle’ with RAB in 2011, according to ASP Mofizul Ilsam. Bdnews24.com
