The Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge’s Court Tuesday deferred hearing in the secretariat bomb blast case filed against leaders of BNP-led 18-Party Alliance to January 29.
Lawyers on behalf of BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabira Rizvi and some other alliance leaders sought time on Tuesday morning and Judge Md Jahurul Haque granted the time petitions.
The hearing to frame charges against the accused leaders, including eight opposition lawmakers was rescheduled from November 18 to January 1. Before that, the hearing was deferred twice.
Two bombs were allegedly thrown in the secretariat premises during the April 29 shutdown of opposition protesting the enforced ‘disappearance’ of BNP Organising Secretary M Illias Ali and Shahbagh Police filed a case in this connection.
Police filed charge sheets against 29 opposition leaders on May 31. They were allowed bail in the case.
However, BNP Acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, an accused in the bomb blast case, is now in jail in a separate shutdown violence case.
