SQ Chy’s house at Goods Hill in Chattogram attacked

Chattogram, May 31 – A group of unidentified miscreants ransacked the house of executed war criminal Salauddin Quader Chowdhury at Goods Hill in the port city on Wednesday night. The attack was made after Salauddin’s younger brother Giasuddin Quader Chowdhury made offensive remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Some 150 attackers equipped with iron rods, sharp weapons and locally-made weapons swooped on the ancestral home of Salauddin Quader Chowdhury around 7:45 pm and vandalised at least 8-9 vehicles and windowpanes of the house.
They also looted valuables from the house, said Mujibur Rahman, a guard of the house, adding that three other servants of the house were also injured in the attack.
The miscreants set some valuable documents afire during the attack, said Nurul Absar, another guard of the house.
Contacted, Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said police visited the spot.
On Wednesday, a defamation case was filed against 70 activists and leaders of BNP, including Giasuddin Quader, for making offensive remarks against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday evening.
Md Jamal Uddin, Chhatra League president of Fatikchhari Upazila, filed the case, said Jakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of the police station.
While addressing a discussion programme on the 37th death anniversary of late president Ziaur Rahman, Giasuddin said, “There was no one to say Inna Lillahi Wa Inna ilayhi raji’un after the death of Bangabandhu Sheikh Muzubur Rahman. The Prime Minister’s fate will be even more dangerous. She has to take the responsibility of those being killed in the name of crossfire.”
He also described Prime Minister as a threat to the country. – UNB
