Tigers to enter bio-bubble tomorrow for Sri Lanka series

DHAKA—The Bangladesh national cricket team will enter into the bio-bubble in Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel tomorrow (Monday) for the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

Before that, they will go through Covid-19 tests, which have already begun.

Dr. Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the BCB, said the first part of the Covid tests for cricketers, coaches and supporting staff started yesterday (Saturday) and tomorrow (Monday) another round of corona samples will be taken.

“Not all the 20 cricketers called up for the ODI series were in Dhaka. Not everyone is there yet. Some have gone to different districts outside the capital, divisional cities to celebrate Eid with their families at their homes,” he said.

“Some players are in Dhaka however. We are taking Covid test in two parts. Samples of those who were or are in Dhaka were collected on Saturday. And for those who have come or are coming from outside Dhaka for Eid holidays, the Covid Test is today (Sunday). On Monday, all those who are in Dhaka and those who have come from outside for Eid will be tested again. Negatives in the test will go straight into the hotel’s bio-bubble,” he added.

Sri Lanka team however reached Dhaka this morning and is in three-day quarantine at the same hotel.BSS
