A court here has asked the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) to carry out further investigations into the case filed over the death of popular film actor Salman Shah in 1996.Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Laskar Sohel Rana passed the order on Tuesday, sources at the court said Wednesday.
Today’s verdict came following a recent order by a Dhaka special judge court that it is not legal to deliver the order for reinvestigating the case by the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab).
On July 21, 2015, a Dhaka court asked Rab to submit the report for further investigation in the case.
Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, who is better known as Salman Shah, died at his Eskaton residence on September 6 in 1996 at the age of only 25.
He was believed to have committed suicide but his mother Neela Chowdhury alleged that he had been killed by some influential persons.
Following the allegation, Detective Branch and Criminal Investigation Department of police investigated the case separately and reported that Salman’s death was suicidal.
