Dhaka – All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan become the third cricketer for Bangladesh to cross the 3,000 runs in cricket during the first Test against New Zealand in Wellington on Friday.
The ace left-handed batsman achieved this landmark when he went on the score of 71 runs.Tamim Iqbal leads the way with 3,045 runs at an average of 40.53, while former captain and current selector Habibul Bashar is in second place with 3,026 at 30.87.Shakib scored 3146 runs from 45 Tests. He also has taken 159 wickets in Tests. He joined an elite list of 14 cricketers to have scored more than 3000 runs and to take more than 150 wickets since his debut in Test cricket against India in 2007.Earlier, in the ODI format of the tour Shakib went past his captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza to become Bangladesh’s leading wicket-taker in ODIs.Shakib now has 218 wickets in 164 ODIs at 27.87 and an economy of 4.34. Skipper Mortaza, on the other hand, bagged 215 scalps from 165 ODIs at 30 and economy rate of 4.69.BSS
