Dhaka – Skipper Mushfiqur Rahim and young all-rounder Mehedi Hasan Miraz steadied Bangladesh adding unbeaten 87 runs in the 7th wicket stand after initial batting collapse as the Tigers ended day-3 on 322 for six in the first innings of the one-off Test against India at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on Saturday.Bangladesh were trailing by 365 runs in the first innings with four wickets in hand against India’s 687/6-declared.The Tigers resumed the 1st innings on day-3 with their overnight score of 41/1 in 14 overs but collapsed to 109 for 4 in 34.4 overs losing Tamim Iqbal, Muminul Haque and Mahmudullah.However, Shakib Al Hasan and Mushfiqur stayed in the 5th wicket for 107 in 27.3 overs to repair the damage and the steady 7th pair between Mushfiqur and Miraz stayed till the end contributing 87 runs that carried the team total to 322/6 in 104 overs.Mushfiqur was batting on 81 off painstaking 206 balls, including 12 boundaries, while Miraz was on 51 at the end of the 3rd day.With this, Mushfiqur reached the 3000-run club in the Test as the 4th Bangladeshi after former national captain Habibul Bashar, Tamim Iqbal and all-rounder Shakib.Mushfiqur was 78 runs away to reach the mark before the day and now he has 3003 runs in his bag from 52 Tests at an average 34.51, including four centuries and 16 half centuries. Making his maiden Test half century with unbeaten 51 off 103 balls, including 10 boundaries, Miraz stayed with Mushfiqur to resume the 1st innings on day-4.After Mahmudullah Riyad’s departure at 109/4 in 34.4 overs, Mushfiqur and Shakib started their composure in the 5th wicket that carried the team total to 216/5 in 62.1 overs before Shakib was caught by Umesh Yadav off Ravichandran Ashwin bowling. Shakib scored 82 off 103 balls, including 14 boundaries. Mahmudullah (28), Tamim Iqbal (24), Sabbir Rahman (16) and Mominul Haque (12) were the other scorers on the 3rd day.Umesh Yadav bagged two wickets for 72 runs while Ishant Sharma, Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin took one wicket each for 54, 60 and 77 runs respectively.
