Dhaka – Defending champion Walton Central Zone tasted its maiden victory in the fifth edition of the four-day-match Bangladesh Cricket League with a huge 227-run margin against Islami Bank East Zone in the fourth round match that ended on day four at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium, Fatullah on Wednesday.Table topper BCB North Zone played out a draw against Prime bank South Zone in another round four match, also concluded on day four at Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan Ground-4.South Zone batsman Naeem Islam played an unbeaten century of 129 runs while Farhad Hossain hammered another century of 119 in the 2nd innings. Both the overnight batsmen paired in the 3rd wicket for 136 in 42.2 overs that helped avoid an innings defeat against North Zone.
Central Zone vs East Zone
In the day’s play, the Central Zone (328 runs in the first innings) resumed the 2nd innings with an overnight score of 266/5 in 67 overs and declared the innings collecting 282/7 in 69.3 overs. They started the day with a 383-run lead and extended it to 399.Overnight batsmen Taibur Rahman and Nurul Hasan were out for 57 and 45 runs respectively. In the 6th pair, Taibur and Nurul stayed for 109 in 18.1 overs that carried the team total to 281/6 in 67 over to 172/5 in 50.5 overs, before Nurul was caught by Abul Hasan off Ebadat Hossain bowling. Mominul Haque, Ebadat Hossain and Alok Kapali bagged two wickets each for 39, 47 and 52 runs in the innings. Having 211 runs in the 1st innings, East Zone opened the 2nd innings to chase a target of 400 runs, but finished at 172/10 in 56.2 overs, including skipper Alok Kapali’s innings of 71 runs. Abul Hasan scored 23 runs, but no other batsman could reach 20 runs mark for the side in the innings. Shuvagata Hom captured four wickets for 46 runs while Mohammad Sharif, Taibur Rahman and Kamrul Islam Rabbi took two wickets each for 19, 24 and 40 runs respectively.Mohammad Sharif showed an all-round performance for the Central Zone scoring 70 in the first innings and was unbeaten with a single run in the 2nd innings for the side. With ball, he captured six wickets for 78 runs in the match and was adjudged man of the match.

Replying to South Zone 501 runs in the 1st innings, North Zone, having 242 runs in the 1st innings, resumed the 2nd innings with an overnight score of 154/2, 61 overs and played till the end on the final day collecting 403/8 in 137 overs to play out a draw.
Overnight 3rd pair between Naeem Islam and Farhad Hossain played an innings of 42.2 overs and carried their team total to 243/3 in 85.1 from 107/2 in 42.5 overs.
Dhiman Ghosh scored 41 runs while Suhrawadi Shuvo added 26 to be other double figure scorers on the final day.
Nahidul Islam captured five wickets for 130 runs for Central Zone in the innings while Rubel Hossain, Mosaddek Hossain and Abdur Razzak took one wicket each for 24, 42 and 137 runs respectively.
South Zone big hitter Tushar Imran who hit a double century of 220 runs in the first innings was adjudged man of the match.
