Dhaka – A national talent hunt camp begins at the BKSP cricket training ground, Savar on Wednesday to identify physically-challenged cricketers.The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MoYS), Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) are organising the camp, the third of its kind.A total 20 cricketers will be selected through the camp for the BCB physically-challenged cricket team.UNB agencyThe selected cricketers will attend a training camp at BKSP from March 9 to 11.In continuation of ICRC’s endeavours to promote social inclusion through sports, the camp hopes to highlight the efforts of physically-challenged players and help them reintegrate into the mainstream of society, said a press release.Around 250 cricket enthusiasts have already shown interest to participate in the talent hunt camp through a mobile registration process. People with physical challenges and having a sound knowledge of the game were encouraged to attend this camp to demonstrate their talents.However, players with intellectual disability, visual and hearing impairments, minor amputation, fracture, wheelchair user, balance and coordination problems are discouraged to attend due to high risk of re-injuries.The selected physically challenged cricketers will participate in a 5-6-week training camp organised throughout the year.
