Dhaka-Two brilliant centuries by Mohammad Mithun and Tushar Imran guided Prime Bank South Zone to score a comfortable 325 for 2 in 90 overs against holders Walton Central Zone on the first day of the four-day 6th round match of the Bangladesh Cricket League at BKSP ground-3 in Savar on Sunday.UNB agencyBatting first after winning the toss, Prime Bank South made a good start scoring 88 runs in 27.2 overs in the opening stand by national opener Imrul Kayes and Fazle Mahmud.Opener Fazle Mahmud contributed 75-ball 39 runs with four boundaries while another opener Imrul Kayes made a half century scoring 57 runs off 126 balls, hitting seven fours and one six.After dismissal of two openers for 112 runs in 38.3 overs, one down Mohammad Mithun pairing with former national cricketer Tushar Imran, contributed an unbeaten 213 runs in the 3rd wickets stand.Mithun hammered an unconquered 127 runs off 179 balls featuring 13 fours and three sixes while number four Tushar Imarn scored 101 runs off 161 deliveries with help of nine boundaries.Shuvagata Hom and Moshrraf Hossain claimed one wicket each conceding 94 and 91 runs respectively.In the day’s other match at Khan Saheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, league leader BCB North Zone, riding on a century by Farhad Hossain, piled up 305 runs for 5 in quota 90 overs on the first day of the four-day affairs against Islami Bank East Zone on Sunday.Sent into bat first, BCB North Zone faced initial batting jolt losing the wicket of captain Jahurul Islam for just 10 runs in 1.3 overs.But another opener Junaid Siddique partnering with one down Farhad Hossain repaired the early damage contributing 204 runs in the 2nd wicket stand.Farhad hammered 108 runs off 217 balls with 14 hits to the fence and three over fence while Junaid made 207-ball 84 runs hitting nine boundaries.Beside, national all rounder Nasir Hossain (40) and Nazmul Hossain Shanta (not out 33) were the other notable contributors for North Zone.Mohammad Saifuddin claimed two wickets for 42 runs while Abul Hossain, Alok Kapali and Afif Hossain took one wicket each.
