Dhaka– Country’s premier tourist hub Cox’s Bazar will be turned into a digital surfing city and the sea beach area will be made free Wi-Fi zone within next four to five years.State Minister for Informational and Communication Technology (ICT) Zunaid Ahmed Palak made this announcement during the prize distribution of the two-day Labaid First National Club Cup Surfing Tournament at Laboni point of Cox’s Bazar sea beach on Saturday President of Bangladesh Surfing Association (BSA) Kazi Firoz Rashid MP, Managing Director of the meet’s sponsor Labaid Group Dr AM Shamim and BSA general secretary Moazzem Hossain Chowdhury Rokon were also present on the occasion.UNB agencyIn the two-day meet, Wave Fighters SC and Surfers Club emerged joint champions while Girls and Boys Surfing Club finished runners-up.Winners of the different categories of the meet –Men’s Senior: Nasir, Kamal and Kamrul Junior : Mannan, Salim and Younus Beginners: Siraj, Riaz and Faruk,Girls: Fatima, Tasnoor and Tasmin A total of 130 leading surfers from 10 clubs took part in the competition in four categories –Senior, Junior, Beginners and Girls.Participating teams are: Kalatoly SC, Wave Riders SC, Occean Surf, Freedom Surf, Tigers Surfing, Wave Fighters SC, Bangladesh Surfing Boys and Girls, Sentu Surf, Surfers Club, Surfing Life Saving Club.
