Mashrafe guilty of slow over-rate again

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s ODI captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been suspended for one match and fined 40 percent of his match fee while his players have been fined 20 percent of their match fees for their slow over-rate during the third ODI against Sri Lanka in Colombo on Saturday.UNB agencyAs Mashrafe had previously been found guilty of the same offence during the first ODI against New Zealand in Christchurch on December 26, 2016, this instance constituted his second minor over-rate offence within a 12-month period which has led to the suspension.The suspension means Mashrafe will miss Bangladesh’s first ODI against Ireland on May 12, part of a three-nation tournament involving New Zealand as well ahead of the Champions Trophy in England in June.Andy Pycroft of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees imposed the suspension on Mashrafe after the Tigers were ruled to be two overs short of its target after time allowances were taken into consideration.The charge was laid by on-field umpires Michael Gough and Ruchira Palliyaguruge, third umpire S Ravi and fourth official Ranmore Martinesz.Bangladesh lost the third ODI by 70 runs as the three-match series was shared 1-1.
