Dhaka- A brilliant double century by Zakir Hasan and two centuries by Yasir Ali and Alok Kapali guided Islami Bank East Zone to declare the first innings for massive 735 runs for 6 in 164 overs against Walton Central Zone on the 2nd day of the four-day 3rd round match of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) at the Shaheed Kamruzzaman Stadium in Rajshahi on Monday.East Zone resumed the first innings on Monday with overnight total 332 for 3 featuring two centuries by Zakir Hasan and Liton Kumar Das, and finally they piled up huge total with two good partnerships in the 4th and 6th wicket stands.Two down batsman Zakir Hasan pairing with Tasamul Haque scored 132 runs in the 4th wicket stand while number six Yasir Ali partnering with Alok Kapali contributed 221 runs in the 6th wicket stand.Zakir Hasan, who made 119 against Prime Bank South Zone in the first round match, resumed the batting with 156 runs and hammered a double century making 211 runs off 320 balls hitting 23 boundaries while another overnight batsman Tasamul Haque (35) contributed 60 runs off 107 deliveries.Lower order Yasir Ali scored 132 runs in 175 balls including 12 fours, former national cricketer Alok Kapali hammered a polished and unconquered 165 runs off 139 balls, featuring 10 fours and three sixes one while number eight national coloured all-rounder Shohag Gazi remained not out on 16 runs. Shuvagoto Hom picked up three wickets for 183 runs, Abu Hider claimed two for 67 while national pacer Taskin Ahmed took one wicket.In the day’s other match, league leader BCB North Zone, resumed the first innings with overnight 214 for 3 and were all out for 408 runs in 106.2 overs against Prime Bank South Zone on the 2nd day of the four-day third round match of the league at the Sheikh Abu Naser Stadium in Khulna on Monday.Former national opener Junaid Siddiqui, who was in batting with 82 runs, completed a century scoring 137 runs off 238 balls, with 13 hits to the fence and two over the fence, apart from Mizanur Rahman 106 runs made on Sunday. Besides, Dhiman Ghosh scored 95-ball 65 runs with nine boundaries, lower order national cloured Taijul Islam made a half century with 50-ball 54 runs, featuring nine fours and one six while Naeem Islam added another 26 runs for the North Zone.Veteran national spinner Abdur Razzak, who emerged as the first Bangladeshi cricketer to take 500 plus wickets in the first class cricket, again displayed his brilliance in the day’s match making another six-wicket haul conceding 107 runs.Kamarul Islam Rabbi grabbed three wickets for 122 runs while Al Amin Hossain took one for 56 runs.In reply, Prime Bank South Zone opened the first innings in the alter afternoon and scored 125 for 2 in 28 overs to trail by 283 runs when bails were drawn for the 2nd day with national opener Imrul Kayes and Tushar Imran were in batting with 58 and 23 runs respectively after the departure of Shahriar Nafees (14) and national opener Soumya Sarkar (29).Ariful Haque and Shafiul Islam took one wicket each.UNB news agency
