Miles set to celebrate 40 years in the music industry

This year is a very special one for one of the country’s popular rock bands – Miles. The band has come a long way and touched the milestone of 40 years in the music industry. Miles’ band members are ready to celebrate the accomplishment in grand way – beginning with a US tour.
Since many of the former and founding members of the band now live in the US, the band decided to start their tour in the US – so that the former members can join the gigs.
The tour is expected to begin in the US in June and end in Bangladesh by the end of the year. Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo, drummer of Miles told the Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “So far it is been confirmed that we would perform in eight cities, but there is higher chance that the number will increase. After the US tour we would perform in Canada around September and then we have Australia tour lined-up.
“Former and founding members of the band will join us during the US tour.
“After all these shows, here in Bangladesh we will have mega concert that is how we are planning to end the 40th year.”
Miles was formed in Dhaka in 1979 by Farid Rashid . The first line-up of the band consisted of: Farid Rashid on lead vocals and bass, Larry and Ishtiaq on guitar, Kamal Mainuddin on drums, and Happy Akhand on keyboard.
Over the four decades, the band has become one of the pioneering rock bands of Bangladesh. The band has made immense contributions to shaping the country’s rock music scene.
Their fourth album “Prottasha” sold over 300 thousand copies in Bangladesh and is still one of the best-selling albums in Bangladesh.
The current members of the band are: Shafin Ahmed on vocals and bass, Hamin Ahmed on vocals and guitar, Manam Ahmed on keys, Turjo on drums, and Jewel on guitar and back-up vocals.
