Bangladesh sees highest 19 coronavirus deaths in a day

Bangladesh saw a big jump in the coronavirus cases on Wednesday as the health authorities confirmed the detection of 1162 new patients in the last 24 hours, raising the total cases to 17,822.Besides, the deadly virus claimed 19 more lives during the same period, taking the death toll in the country to 269 ,” said Additional Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Prof Dr Nasima Sultana at the daily online briefing.
In the last 24 hours, 37 coronavirus testing laboratories across the country tested 7900 samples, she added.
Bangladesh reported its first coronavirus case on March 8 while the first death on March 18.
The global death tally from coronavirus pandemic reached 292,816 as of Wednesday morning.
Since the first reported in China in December last year, coronavirus has so far infected 4,340,058 people globally, according to Worldometer.
So far, 1,602,155 people have recovered from COVID-19.
The virus is affecting 212 countries and territories around the world and two international conveyances, reports UNB.
