All bank branches and income tax offices will remain open next Friday and Saturday to facilitate the filing of nominations for the upcoming national election on Jan 5.The Bangladesh Bank and the National Board of Revenue issued separate orders to this effect on Thursday.
Banks in Bangladesh usually remain closed on Fridays and Saturdays.
The last date for filing nominations is Dec 2.
The central bank circular orders all scheduled bank branches to operate on Nov 30 (Saturday) to facilitate the submission of nomination papers.
The banks will have to remain open as poll candidates need to deposit a pay-order of Tk 20,000 to the Election Commission along with their candidature papers.
Aspirant can also clear off their debts and many are expected to pay tax.
Meanwhile, the National Board of Revenue has ordered all income-tax return offices in Bangladesh to operate on next Friday and Saturday for the same reason.-bdnews24.com
