Train derails in Khulna as fishplates removed: 10 hurt

At least ten passengers of a train were injured as its five bogies along with the engine veered off the tracks due to removal of fishplates by blockaders in Jugnipasa area in Phultala upazila early Wednesday.
Shamsur Rahman, assistant engineer of Khulna railway station, said the bogies and engine of Khulna-bound train ‘Naksikatha’ from Goalund of Rajbari derailed in the area around 1:30am when miscreants uprooted fishplates from the tracks, leaving its ten passengers injured.
The injured were admitted to different clinics of the district.
Due to the accident, all types of train communications of Khulna with the rest of the country remained halted.
The engineer added two relief trains from the district and Ishhurdi were sent to remove the bogies for quick resumption of train movement. –UNB, Khulna
