Awami League (AL) and different organisations have chalked out elaborate daylong programmes to observe the historic March 7 on Friday in a befitting manner everywhere in Rangpur division.
The day will be observed with a renewed pledge for further consolidating the national unity in building a secular ‘Sonar Bangla’ as dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.The district and upazila units of AL, its front organisations including Chhatra League, Juba League, Swechcha Sebok League (SSL), Krishak League, different socio-cultural and professional bodies have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the day.The daylong programmes include hoisting of the national and party flags, placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, paying rich tributes to Father of the Nation and four national leaders and discussion to highlight the significance of the day.The epoch-making March 7 speech of Bangabandhu at the Race Course Maidan, now Suhrawardy Uddyan, will be played in all district and upazila headquarters and important places of the district.In Rangpur, the main discussion meeting will be organised at the party’s district unit office in Betpotti area in the city with Acting AL district unit president Mamtaz Uddin in the chair.District AL General Secretary Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, its senior leaders Advocate Illias Ahmed, Shamem Talukder, Advocate Anwarul Islam, Rafikul Islam Dulal, Motahar Hosain Mowla, Tauhidur Rahman Tutul, convener of SSL Moazzem Hossain Lablu, city AL President Shafiar Rahman Shafi and General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, and district Chhatra League President Taposh Ghosh, its General Secretary Fakhrul Hassan Lieu will take part in the discussion.The discussion will highlight the importance of March 7 speech of Bangabandhu in the history of Bangladesh.Senior AL leaders in Rangpur asked all pro-liberation forces to keep strong vigil on the current political situation as some vested
quarters have engaged in destabilizing the country through creating anarchy to foil war crimes’ trial.The day will also be observed in all district and upazila headquarters of Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur Kurigram, Nilphamari, Gaibandha and Lalmonirhat districts in Rangpur division through similar programmes. -BSS, Rangpur
