Miscreants have decamped with unspecified amount of cash from a branch of Sonali Bank at Bogra’s Adamdighi Upazila by digging a tunnel. Police is yet to confirm the amount that has been taken away.
Alamdighi Police Station OC Nazrul Islam said that the miscreants dug an underground tunnel to the bank’s vault from a furniture shop located near the bank. Four persons have been arrested in connection with the heist, including two guards of the bank.They are security guards ‘Milon’, 24 and Purna Chandra, 22, the owner of the furniture shop Ashraful Islam and one of his employees.
Bogra’s Additional Superintendent of Police Abu Sayeem visited the spot, added OC Islam.
According to the branch manager Md Shamsuddin, the vault was found broken when the bank was opened on Saturday afternoon after closing of business on Thursday.
On January 26, miscreants made-off with Tk 169 million from the state-owned bank’s branch in Kishoreganj. Two days later, law enforcers nabbed two including the ringleader Shohel alias Habib with Tk 161.90 million of the stolen cash.-bdnews24.com
