The farmers in the district have cultivated Boro paddy on 54,710 hectares of land during the current season and expecting a bumper production of the yield.
The crop is growing excellent in a favourable climate which would give a good production, district agricultural officials said.The Boro plants have already started flowering with an eye-catching looks everywhere. The enthusiastic farmers have made hopeful for the prevailing climate conditions, they added.Deputy Director, department of Agriculture Extension (DAE), here Muksed Ali told BSS that the government through the DAE have been providing necessary practical knowledge, latest and effective technologies to the upazila level agricultural officials and the farmers for achieving the Boro production target.”If the existing climate condition continues over the coming couple of weeks, about 2,15,000 tons of Boro paddy would be produced in the district this season, Ali said. He informed the local DAE provided the farmers with logistic support including fertilizers, insecticides and necessary agriculture imputes. BADC also supplied quality seeds to the farmers at a fair price. Bangladesh Krishi Bank, Sonali Bank Janata Bank, Agrani Bank and BRDB distributed short-term crop loan among the farmers. -BSS, Narsingdi
