Expatriates’ Welfare Minister Khandker Mosharraf Hossain said 72 female workers will go to Hong Kong at the end of this month as part of first phase of manpower export to the country.The minister said this while handing over certificates to the 72 women at a function at Expatriate Welfare Bhaban in the city on Thursday.
“The 72 women, who are going to Hong Kong, have already completed their training on skill development. They will work as domestic help in that country. Most of them have already received their visas. When the visa process of all the women will be completed, they will be sent to the country together in a flight”, said the minister.
He said: “As there is huge demand of domestic help in Hong Kong, registration of women workers is going on now in the country”.
“The travel cost of each woman will be US$1400. Each woman will get US$500 as their monthly salary. Later, the government will send more women workers abroad as per demand”, he said.
Addressing on the occasion, Director General of the Bureau of Manpower, Employment and Training Begum Shamsun Nahar said the ongoing conflict with Baira will not impede the country’s manpower export to Malaysia.
She said her office has filed a case with Ramna police station against the president and the general secretary of Baira on charge of vandalising the BMET Bhaban on Wednesday. UNB
