Bangladesh bourses bounce back

DHAKA, August 25, 2020 (BSS) – Country’s both the bourses, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) bounced back today after a single day break.

At DSE, the broad index, DSEX settled at 4781.57 points on Tuesday with a gain of 19.13 points or 0.40 percent.

Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 14.80 points and 9.50 points to settle at 1660.53 points and 1113.80 points respectively.

On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 167,417 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 272.08 million securities.

On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 7.86 billion from Taka 7.29 billion in the previous session.

Losers took lead over gainers as out of 357 issues traded, 137 securities gained price while 172 declined and 48 remained unchanged.

The market-cap of DSE increased to 3,631 billion which was Taka 3,611 billion in the previous session.

The top 10 gainers were Express Insurance, Miracle Industries, BD Finance, SEML LEC Management Fund, GQ Ball pen, EBL 1st Mutual Fund, National Housing, Sino-Bangla, Beximco and SEBL 1st Mutual Fund.

Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Pharma, Grameenphone, Orion Pharma, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh, Square Pharma, BSCCL, BSC, IFIC and Singer BD.

The top ten losers were Dacca Dyeing, Tung Hai Knitting, Pragati Insurance, Sun Life Insurance, Dhaka Insurance, Family Tex, Zeal Bangla Sugar, Mithun Knitting, Emerald Oil and Pioneer Insurance.

On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also returned to gaining trend from bearish streak of previous sessions.

CSCX and CASPI rose by 40.86 points and 58.09 points to stand at 8249.68 points and 13646.95 points respectively.

At CSE, a total of 11,378,652 shares and mutual funds of 268 companies were traded, of which 111 issues advanced while 111 declined and 46 issues remained unchanged.
