DSE index crosses 5000-mark again

Dhaka, Sept 10 – The key index of country’s prime bourse, Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), on Thursday crossed 5,000-mark after 12 months as investors kept running their buying appetite riding on different regulatory moves.DSE’s broad index, DSEX settled at 5011.29 points on Thursday, last working day of the week, with a huge gain of 39.60 points or 0.79 percent.
Besides, two selective indices, Blue Chip index, DSE30 and Shariah index, DSES also went up by 13.33points and 12.08 points to settle at 1740.23 points and 1158.52 points respectively.
On the DSE trading floor, a total number of 195,546 trades were executed in today’s trading session with a trading volume of 357.11 million securities.
On the other hand, DSE’s turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Taka 10.24 billion from Taka 10.77 billion in the previous session.
Gainers took lead over losers as out of 356 issues traded, 190securities gained price while 117 declined and 49 remained unchanged.
The market-cap of DSE increased to Taka 3,789 billion which was Taka 3,763 billion in the previous session.
The top 10 gainers were Hakkani Pulp, Orion Infusion, Information Services Network, Provati Insurance, Beacon Pharma, ADN Telecom, National Polymer, BD Finance, Agrani Insurance and Miracle Industries.
Beximco Pharma topped the turnover chart followed by Beximco Limited, Brac Bank, Orion Pharma, Orion Infusion, Delta Brac Housing, Fu-Wang Food, Grameenphone, United Power and Square Pharma.
The top ten losers were Pragati Life Insurance, LR Global Mutual Fund-1, Prime Insurance, United Insurance, NLI First Mutual Fund, Republic Insurance, Asia Insurance, Paramount Insurance, Global Insurance and Daffodil Insurance.
On the other hand, port city bourse, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) also rebounded and closed trading at green after a day break.
CSCX and CASPI rose by 53.39points and 100.24 points to stand at 8602.59 points and 14295.09 points respectively.
At CSE, a total of 14,949,947share and mutual funds of 273companies were traded, of which 147 issues advanced while 83 declined and 43 issues remained unchanged. – BSS
