1 injured in Chapainawabganj cocktail blast

Chapainawabganj, Aug 31 (UNB) – A man was injured in a cocktail explosion at his house in Shibganj upazila on Saturday morning.

The injured, named by police as Tasim Ali, 40, is the son of Sirajul Islam, the owner of the house.

Tasim is being treated at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. His father was detained for interrogation, police said.

Shahbazpur Union Parishad member Abdur Rashid said Tasim had been injured after several crude bombs went off in his room in the morning. Parts of the house were also damaged.

Shibganj Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge (OC) (investigation) Atikul Islam said Tasim and his father Sirajul are supporters of Jamaat-e-Islami.

The crude bombs were stored in their house, he said.
